„Urnex“ Cafiza® E16 — cleaning tablets for automatic and traditional espresso machines

100 tablets of 1.2 g (12 mm) — one tablet per cleaning cycle.

„Urnex“ Cafiza® E16 tablets remove coffee residue from espresso machine group heads, valves and lines. A tablet is easy to dose precisely: in an automatic machine it goes into the cleaning tablet opening; in a traditional machine, into a blind filter in the portafilter.

„Urnex“ makes its tablets in several sizes, because different automatic machines take different tablets. An E16 tablet weighs 1.2 g and is 12 mm in diameter. Before ordering, check which tablet your machine's manual specifies. The official „Urnex“ supplier in the United Kingdom lists E16 tablets as suitable for „Carimali“, „Concordia“, „Ergo“, „Newco“, „Nuova Simonelli“, „Rancilio“, „Reneka“, „Sielaff“ and US-market „Schaerer“ machines.

The tablets are NSF-certified for use on espresso machines and certified Kosher (pareve). Made in the USA.

Automatic espresso machines

Drop one tablet into the cleaning tablet opening and run the cleaning programme as instructed by the machine manufacturer. The tablets are intended for daily cleaning.

Traditional espresso machines

1. Insert a blind filter into the portafilter, place one tablet in it and lock the portafilter into the group head.
2. Run the brew cycle for 10 seconds, then stop for 10 seconds. Repeat five times.
3. Remove the portafilter, start the brew cycle and rinse the portafilter in the stream of water from the group head.
4. Lock the portafilter back in without cleaner and repeat the cycle five more times: 10 s on, 10 s off.
5. Replace the blind filter with a standard basket, then make one espresso to flush out any traces of cleaner and pour it away — do not drink it.

Caution: causes skin irritation (H315) and serious eye irritation (H319). Wear protective gloves and eye protection, and wash your hands thoroughly after use. If on skin, wash with plenty of water. If in eyes, rinse cautiously with water for several minutes, remove contact lenses if easy to do and continue rinsing; if eye irritation persists, get medical advice. A symbol on the label marks the tablets as unsuitable for aluminium parts.
