Espresso machine cleaning powder „Urnex“ Cafiza2, 900 g
„Urnex“ Cafiza2 — coffee equipment cleaning powder
A large 900 g jar for daily backflushing of espresso group heads and soaking parts.
„Urnex“ Cafiza2 is a concentrated cleaning powder that keeps commercial coffee equipment clean day after day. It breaks down coffee oils, tannins and residue in espresso machine group heads, valves and lines, and, dissolved in warm water, makes a soaking solution for portafilters, baskets and shower screens. It also cleans filter coffee machines.
One 900 g jar is enough for about 300 backflushes at 3 g each (our calculation). The powder is white, granular and odourless, and contains sodium carbonate and sodium percarbonate. Made in the USA.
Backflushing the group head
- Insert a blind filter into the portafilter and add 3 g of powder.
- Lock the portafilter into the group head, run the brew cycle for 10 seconds and stop for 10 seconds. Repeat five times.
- Remove the portafilter and rinse the group head thoroughly.
- Lock the portafilter back in and repeat the cycle five more times with clean water: 10 s on, 10 s off.
- Replace the blind filter with a standard basket, then make one espresso to flush out any traces of cleaner and pour it away.
Soaking parts
Dissolve 6 g of powder in 1 L of warm water. Soak portafilters, baskets and shower screens for up to 30 minutes, then rinse them thoroughly with clean water.
Filter coffee machines
Put 3 g of powder in the brew basket and run a brew cycle into the airpot or jug. Then run clean water through the machine twice.
If your machine's manual gives a different cleaning procedure, follow it.
Safe use
Caution: causes skin irritation (H315) and serious eye irritation (H319). Wear protective gloves and eye protection, and wash your hands thoroughly after use. If on skin, wash with plenty of soap and water; if skin irritation occurs, get medical advice. If in eyes, rinse cautiously with water for several minutes, remove contact lenses if easy to do and continue rinsing; if eye irritation persists, get medical advice. Keep out of the reach of children.
